I’m happy to inform you that the Board of Directors has established a foundation to assist with the continual growth and development of the college. As you are no doubt aware, the primary source of funding for the institution is the tuition it charges for its programs and courses. While we are thankful that revenues from tuition have sustained the institution over the years, the reality is that the development of the college is severely stifled by such limited access to finances. It is expected that the foundation will help to alleviate this constraint.
As the foundation grows and expands, the goal is for it to be able to provide funding to the college for Financial Aid, the purchase of leading edge software, expanding student support services and help with providing additional teaching resources.
Most importantly though we expect that The Foundation will be most effective in helping to minimize the financial burden on our students so they may focus more intensely on their studies without having to worry about the responsibility of meeting their financial obligations.
As an alumni or friend of BIBT, we look forward to your support in this endeavor and trust that you will donate generously in whichever way you can to ensure its continual success. And please be ensured that your gift, regardless of its size will go a long way in contributing positively to the ongoing viability of this vital Bahamian institution.
Sincerely
Executive Director
BIBT Foundation Board
The BIBT Foundation was created to assist with the further growth and development of the college. It is designed to be the primary vehicle through which the institution receives gifts, grants of money or any other largess for its benefit. It is also charged with the responsibility of directing fund-raising efforts and similarly, it serves to provide prudent stewardship for the administration of such funds as raised by the Foundation.
This is perhaps the most important role of the Foundation. The majority of our students are self-funded therefore any assistance that can help them ease the financial burden of attending college is welcome. The work of the Foundation will go a long way in this regard.
Gifts of cash is the easiest way to support the Foundation. However, it is advised that any gifts of cash be deposited directly to the Foundation's account #50385-33333-XXXX at Scotia Bank. Checks, bank drafts and credit card donations can be made at the Business Office if this is more convenient for you.
The Foundation invites corporate entities who wish to partner with the college for the betterment of their employees or to assist deserving individuals in the community to contact the Foundation's office. Banks, retail/wholesale merchants, insurance companies, hotels are especially welcome to partner with the college. Corporate partners may also want to consider establishing a Matching Gift Program with their employees to encourage employees to support the education of deserving individuals.
Often time we wish to honor are memorialize the work of love ones. An honorary scholarship or donation is a very thoughtful way to ensure that the achievements of your friend or family is recognized. All gifts of this nature in recognized in the Foundation's Annual Report and on the college's Wall of Fame. If you wish to give in honor of a love one, please contact the Foundation's office at 242-323-4347.
BIBT Alumni Association sponsors a number of fund raising events yearly. Returns from these efforts are used to fund scholarships for students and other student government endeavors. You are encouraged to join the Association in these efforts so that maximum returns are experienced.
From time to time the college organizes various fund raising events through different academic departments or groups. These events are usually in aid of specific college projects such as one time purchases or special function. In such cases, the support of the entire college community is encouraged and expected.
