Over the past several years there has been an exponential growth in the field of healthcare. No doubt this growth is inextricably tied to the aging populations of most western jurisdictions. Of course, such growth will always increase the demand for qualified personnel. At the Bahamas Institute of Business and Technology, several programs have been designed to fill this increased demand. While the primary intent is to prepare individuals for entry level positions, keen individuals are encouraged to use these programs as stepping-stones into higher level training and positions.
Current programs include medical assisting, medical office administration, healthcare administration, and pharmacy technician. These programs are structured to give student the necessary foundational grounding in the theoretical aspects of allied health and allow them exposure to best practices in the delivery of healthcare. Additionally, all students are required to complete on-the-job-training at a local medical facility and they must sit and pass appropriate certification examinations in order to qualify for licensure in their particular field by the Bahamas Health Professions Council (BHPC).
